CRP Test Dubai C-Reactive Protein Inflammation Blood Test CRP Test at Home

A DHA-licensed nurse comes to your home, hotel, or office across Dubai to collect one blood sample for a quantitative C-reactive protein test — the marker that rises within hours when inflammation starts, and falls again as it settles. Processed at DHA-approved laboratories with same-day results and a free doctor review. No fasting required.

A raised CRP confirms inflammation is present — it does not say where, or why. That is what the doctor review is for. And if you are here for heart risk rather than infection, you want hs-CRP — a different, more sensitive test. We will make sure you book the right one rather than the one you happened to land on.

Understanding the Test

What Is a CRP Test?

C-reactive protein is made by your liver whenever there is inflammation somewhere in your body. There is normally very little of it in your blood. When something inflames — an infection, an injury, a flare of a long-term condition — the level climbs, and a CRP test measures exactly how much.

Same
Day

One Sample, One Clear Number

A quantitative result reported as an exact figure rather than simply positive or negative — which is what makes it possible to compare one test against the next and see a direction of travel.

A CRP test answers one question quickly and reliably: is there active inflammation in your body right now, and roughly how much?

What makes CRP genuinely useful is its speed. It starts climbing within hours of inflammation beginning, and once that inflammation settles it falls away again just as quickly. Most markers are far slower on both counts. That responsiveness is why a doctor will often repeat a CRP a few days into treatment — a falling number is real evidence that something is working, and a stubbornly high one is a reason to reconsider.

What it does not do is tell you where. CRP is a whole-body signal. A raised result confirms inflammation exists somewhere; it cannot say whether that is a chest infection, an inflamed joint, a healing wound or a gut condition. It also cannot tell you how serious the underlying cause is on its own. It narrows the question rather than answering it — which is exactly what a fast, inexpensive first test should do.

One distinction worth getting right before you book. Standard CRP and high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) are different tests. This page is the standard assay, used for infection and active inflammation, with results the same day. hs-CRP is a more sensitive version used for cardiovascular risk assessment, and it takes two to three days. Several providers in this market blur the two together. If your reason for testing is heart risk rather than feeling unwell, say so when you call and we will book the right one.

One Marker · Six Real Uses

What a CRP Test Is Actually Used For

CRP is a single number, which makes it sound limited. It is not — it is one of the most ordered blood tests in the world precisely because that one number does useful work in a lot of different situations.

Suspected Infection

The most common reason

A fever with no obvious source, or an illness that will not settle. Bacterial infections tend to push CRP considerably higher than viral ones — though the overlap is real, and a CRP alone cannot make that call. It gives a doctor a strong steer.

Long-Term Inflammatory Conditions

Tracking a flare

Conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease raise CRP when they are active. Testing during a flare and again once it settles shows the pattern in a way that describing symptoms alone cannot.

After Surgery or Injury

Expected, then falling

CRP rises after any operation or significant injury — that is normal healing, not a problem. What matters is the direction: a level that keeps climbing when it should be settling is the signal doctors watch for.

Is the Treatment Working?

CRP's best trick

Because CRP falls quickly once inflammation resolves, a repeat test a few days into treatment is real evidence rather than guesswork. A number coming down is reassuring. One that stays put is a reason to go back to the doctor.

Symptoms With No Obvious Cause

Ruling in or out

Persistent aches, low-grade fevers, feeling generally unwell for weeks. A normal CRP makes significant active inflammation much less likely, which is genuinely useful — it moves the search somewhere else.

Alongside a Blood Count

The standard pairing

CRP and a CBC answer different halves of the same question — how much inflammation, and what your white cells are doing about it. When someone has a fever, this is the combination a doctor usually orders together.

Why one number can do all of this. CRP is not specific to any one illness, and that is the point. It is a fast, sensitive signal that something inflammatory is happening — and because it climbs within hours and drops away just as quickly, it is as useful for tracking a situation over days as it is for assessing one today. What it never does is name the cause. That is why your MedCall result is read by a doctor alongside your symptoms rather than sent to you as a bare figure.

How Your CRP Test Works at Home in Dubai

From first message to doctor-reviewed results — four steps, one home visit, no clinic queue and no fasting. One small sample, and a number the same day.

Step 01

Tell Us Why You Are Testing

Call +971 55 850 2472 or send a message. This is not small talk — it is how we make sure you get the right test. Feeling unwell, a fever, a flare or a post-operative check means the standard CRP on this page. If your reason is heart risk, you need hs-CRP instead, and we will book that.

Booking confirmed in under 10 minutes

Step 02

No Fasting — But Mention Your Medication

Nothing to prepare and no fasting, so book whatever time suits you. One thing genuinely matters though: anti-inflammatory medication can lower CRP. Ibuprofen and similar painkillers, steroids and statins can all push the number down. Do not stop anything — just tell us, so the doctor reads your result knowing it.

No fasting · evening & weekend slots

Step 03

One Small Sample Taken

A DHA-licensed nurse comes to your home, hotel or office and collects a single serum sample using sterile, single-use equipment. The visit takes around ten minutes. If you are unwell enough that leaving the house is unappealing, this is exactly the situation it is for.

About 10 minutes · sterile single-use equipment

Step 04

Same-Day Result & Doctor Review

Your digital report arrives the same day, with a free doctor review. Rather than handing you a figure to interpret alone, the doctor tells you what that level suggests given your symptoms — and whether it is worth repeating in a few days to see which way it is heading.

Symptoms · What a CRP Helps Investigate

Is Something Actually Inflamed?

Most of the time you can tell you feel wrong long before anyone can tell you why. A CRP does not name the cause — but it answers the first question a doctor would ask: is there real, active inflammation behind this, or not?

Direction matters as much as the symptom. Feeling rough on day two of a virus is expected. Still feeling rough on day ten, or feeling worse rather than better, is the pattern worth putting a number against.

Most common reason

A Fever That Will Not Settle

A temperature that keeps returning, or an illness dragging into a second week. A CRP gives a doctor a fast read on how much inflammation is actually behind it rather than judging by how rough you look.

Joint symptoms

Swollen, Hot or Stiff Joints

Especially morning stiffness that takes a long time to loosen, or a joint that is visibly swollen. These are the symptoms where an inflammation marker earns its place alongside a doctor's examination.

No obvious cause

Feeling Unwell for Weeks

Vague aches, low-grade temperatures, no appetite, generally not right — and nothing to point at. A normal CRP here is genuinely useful, because it makes significant active inflammation much less likely.

Known condition

A Flare You Want to Confirm

If you live with rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease or a similar condition, testing during a suspected flare and again once it settles turns "I think it is worse" into something measurable.

With your surgeon

Recovering From Surgery

CRP rises after any operation — that part is normal. What your surgical team watches is whether it is coming back down on schedule. Testing at home avoids a trip you may not feel up to yet.

Repeat testing

Checking Treatment Is Working

Partway through a course of treatment and unsure whether it is helping. Because CRP falls quickly once inflammation settles, a repeat test is real evidence rather than a guess based on how you feel today.

Not Sure Whether to Test or Just Wait It Out?

Tell our coordinator what has been happening and for how long. If a CRP is the sensible next step we will book it, usually same day — and if what you are describing needs a doctor today rather than a blood test, we will say that instead.

Reading Your Report · What the Number Means

Understanding Your CRP Result

A CRP report is a single figure, which makes it feel like it should be simple to interpret. It is not, quite — the same number means very different things depending on why you tested, what medication you take, and which CRP test was actually run.

Read your result against the range printed on your own report. Laboratories use different analysers and slightly different reference intervals, and figures found online are frequently quoted from the wrong test entirely. Your MedCall doctor review reads yours against the correct scale, alongside your symptoms.

Outcome 01

Within the Normal Range

Significant active inflammation is unlikely, which is genuinely useful information rather than a wasted test — it moves the search elsewhere. It does not rule everything out, though: some conditions produce only a modest rise, and if you are taking anti-inflammatory medication your result may be lower than it otherwise would be.

Outcome 02

Modestly Raised

Common, and it covers a very wide field — a minor infection, a recent injury, a settling flare, or one of the ordinary non-disease causes in the list below. On its own it is a prompt, not a finding. What usually resolves it is context: your symptoms, and often a repeat test a few days later.

Outcome 03

Markedly Raised

Substantial inflammation is present and needs explaining — most often a significant infection, but the test cannot say which or where. This is a result to act on rather than research. Our doctor will call you, and if your symptoms warrant being seen today they will say so plainly.

Five Things That Change What Your Number Means

None of these appear on a CRP report, and most do not appear on the other CRP pages in this market either. The second one in particular is worth reading before you compare your result to anything you find online.

It says inflammation — never where CRP is a whole-body signal. A raised result cannot distinguish a chest infection from an inflamed joint, a healing surgical wound or a gut condition. It also does not scale neatly with how serious the cause is — a very treatable infection can push it high, and a significant condition can produce only a modest rise. The number opens the question; your symptoms and a doctor close it.
The heart-risk bands do not apply to this test This is the single most common mistake made with CRP results, and several pages in this market make it. The low, moderate and high risk categories you will see quoted belong to hs-CRP — the high-sensitivity test used for cardiovascular risk. Those thresholds sit far below anything an infection produces, so an ordinary infection result read against them looks alarming when it is nothing of the kind. If you tested because you feel unwell, those bands are not your scale.
Medication can push it down Anti-inflammatory drugs do what their name suggests. Ibuprofen and similar painkillers, steroids, and statins can all lower CRP — which means a reassuring number is less reassuring if you have been taking them. This is why we ask. Never stop prescribed medication to get a "truer" result; tell the doctor instead and they will factor it in.
Ordinary things raise it too CRP is not exclusive to illness. Carrying extra weight, smoking, pregnancy, a recent hard workout, and oestrogen-containing medication can all lift the baseline. So can a minor injury or a dental problem you had half forgotten. A modestly raised result in someone who feels perfectly well often has one of these behind it rather than anything requiring treatment.
The direction beats the number This is where CRP genuinely outperforms slower markers. Because it rises within hours and falls away quickly once inflammation resolves, two results a few days apart tell you far more than one result ever can. A number coming down is real evidence that something is settling. One that is climbing when it should be falling is worth a doctor's attention today, whatever the absolute figure.

One number, read properly. Included, not extra.

Every MedCall CRP comes with a doctor review at no additional cost — read against the correct scale, alongside your symptoms and your medication, with a clear answer on whether repeating it in a few days is worth doing.

Is This Test Right for You?

Who Should Consider a CRP Test

CRP is quick, inexpensive and broad, which makes it a sensible first test in a lot of situations — and a pointless one in a few. These are the cases where the number genuinely changes what happens next.

Any age

An Illness That Will Not Clear

A fever that keeps coming back, or something that should have passed a week ago and has not. A CRP tells a doctor how much inflammation is actually behind it rather than relying on how unwell you look on the day.

Alongside your specialist

Living With an Inflammatory Condition

Rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and similar conditions raise CRP when active. Testing during a suspected flare gives your specialist something measurable to work with rather than a description.

With your surgeon

Recovering From an Operation

A rise after surgery is expected and normal. What matters is whether it is falling on schedule — and testing at home means not travelling for bloods while you are still recovering.

A few days apart

Checking Whether Treatment Is Working

One of the few tests genuinely worth repeating. Because CRP falls quickly once inflammation settles, a second result a few days later is evidence rather than opinion — and it is cheap enough to be worth doing.

Ruling things out

Symptoms Nobody Can Explain

Weeks of feeling unwell with nothing to point at. A normal CRP makes significant active inflammation much less likely, and narrowing the field is a real result even when it is not the one you expected.

No referral needed

Your Doctor Has Asked for One

Often ordered alongside a blood count. If you have been given a form and simply want it done without a clinic trip, bring the details when you call and we will make sure everything requested is collected in one visit.

When This Test Is Not the Right Step If you are getting worse rather than better — high fever with confusion, difficulty breathing, a rash that does not fade, or feeling dramatically worse by the hour — that is an emergency. Call 998 or go to the nearest emergency department, where bloods are done immediately and acted on. If your reason for testing is heart risk rather than feeling unwell, this is the wrong assay — you want hs-CRP, a separate and more sensitive test that takes two to three days. And remember a CRP confirms that inflammation exists, never where or why. Call us and we will tell you honestly which of these applies to you, including when the answer is that you do not need us at all.
Choosing the Right Test · An Honest Comparison

CRP, hs-CRP or ESR?

Three tests, all described as inflammation markers, all sold side by side — and they are not interchangeable. Booking the wrong one is the most common mistake made here, so this is the straight comparison rather than a sales page.

We offer all three, so we have no reason to steer you. The one that suits you depends on why you are testing — feeling unwell, assessing heart risk, or monitoring a long-term rheumatological condition are three different questions with three different answers.

This Test · AED 199

CRP

Standard quantitative C-reactive protein

  • For infection and active inflammation — fever, a flare, post-operative recovery.
  • Results the same day. If you feel unwell now, this is the one that answers now.
  • Rises within hours and falls fast — ideal for checking whether treatment is working.
  • Not sensitive enough at the low end to assess cardiovascular risk.
  • Cannot say where the inflammation is or what is causing it.
Different Test · AED 249

hs-CRP

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein

  • For cardiovascular risk assessment — the low-grade inflammation linked to heart disease.
  • Measures far lower levels accurately, which is exactly what the standard test cannot do.
  • Takes two to three days — no use at all if you have a fever today.
  • Meaningless during an active infection, which swamps the low-level signal it is looking for.
  • Its risk categories are frequently misquoted on standard CRP pages — they do not transfer.
Alternative · AED 99

ESR

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate

  • Still preferred in certain rheumatological conditions, where decades of clinical practice are built around it.
  • The least expensive of the three, and often ordered alongside CRP rather than instead of it.
  • Slow to move. It lags days behind CRP going up, and lags again coming down.
  • Poor for checking whether treatment is working in the short term, for exactly that reason.
  • Affected by age, sex and anaemia independently of any inflammation.

Which One Actually Suits You

Four situations, and the honest answer for each. The fourth is the one people get wrong most often, and it is the reason we ask why you are testing before we book anything.

You feel unwell now CRP. Same-day answer, and the marker that actually moves with an acute illness.
Is the treatment working? CRP, repeated. It falls fast, so two results days apart genuinely tell you something.
A long-term joint condition Often both. Your specialist may want ESR alongside CRP — ask them which they track.
Assessing heart risk hs-CRP, and only when you are well. An infection makes the result unusable.

Not sure which you need? Tell us why you are testing.

Thirty seconds on the phone is enough to get this right. We would rather book you the AED 99 test than the AED 249 one if that is the one that answers your question.

Right Test · Same Day · Doctor-Reviewed

Why Test With MedCall

A CRP is a standardised assay — the analyser does not care who booked it. What differs between providers is whether you end up with the right test in the first place, how fast you get it, and whether anyone explains the number afterwards.

DHA-Approved Laboratories

Every sample is processed at a Dubai Health Authority approved laboratory, on the same analysers a hospital laboratory would use. Regulated testing, not a shortcut.

We Make Sure You Book the Right One

This is the difference that actually matters here. We ask why you are testing before anything is booked — because CRP, hs-CRP and ESR answer different questions. Plenty of people in this market end up paying for the wrong assay and waiting days for a number that cannot help them.

Results the Same Day

People book a CRP because something is happening now. A result that arrives next week has missed the point of the test — so we do not build that wait in. Sample in the morning, report the same day.

Read Against the Correct Scale

A CRP figure is meaningless without context, and the wrong context is worse than none. Our doctor reads yours against the right reference range, your symptoms and your medication — not the cardiac risk bands that get misquoted all over the internet.

Easy to Repeat in a Few Days

CRP is one of the few tests where a second result genuinely earns its cost. Book the repeat when you call and a nurse comes back to you — no clinic trip while you are still unwell, and a real answer on whether things are settling.

No Pressure, No Upselling

If what you describe needs a doctor today rather than a blood test, we will say so. And if the cheaper test is the one that answers your question, that is the one we will book.

Our Testing Promise Every CRP is collected by a DHA-licensed nurse, processed at a DHA-approved laboratory, and reviewed by a doctor before you hear from us. You get the right test for your reason, an accurate result the same day, and a plain-language explanation of what it means given your symptoms — including an honest answer on whether it is worth repeating, or whether you should be seeing someone rather than testing at all.

Stopped me booking the wrong one

I had gone online and picked the more expensive CRP because I assumed higher sensitivity meant better. The coordinator asked why I was testing, heard "I have had a temperature for a week", and said that was the wrong one — the standard test, same day, and cheaper. Nobody else asked me anything.

The number was explained

My result came back raised and I had already found three websites telling me completely different things about what that meant. The doctor explained why the figures I had been reading were from a different test entirely, and what mine actually suggested given my symptoms. Enormous relief.

Repeated a few days later

The doctor suggested testing again after a few days rather than assuming anything from one result. Seeing the second number come down was far more reassuring than being told I was probably fine, and the nurse came back to the flat so I did not have to go anywhere.

I described what had been going on and expected to be booked in. Instead I was told that what I was describing needed someone to actually examine me that day, not a blood test in the afternoon. They talked me out of giving them money. I have used them twice since.

CRP Test in Dubai — Frequently Asked Questions

Some of these come from people deciding whether to book. Just as many come from people holding a result and trying to work out what it says. Both are answered here, honestly.

Can’t find your question? Call us free on +971 55 850 2472

It measures C-reactive protein, a substance your liver releases when there is inflammation anywhere in your body. There is normally very little of it in your blood; when something inflames, the level climbs.

Ours is a quantitative test, meaning you get an exact figure rather than a positive or negative — which is what makes it possible to compare one result against another and see which way things are heading.

Book a CRP at home

The standard CRP test is AED 199. Home collection is charged at AED 49 on bookings under AED 299, so a CRP on its own is AED 248 all-in — including the nurse visit, DHA-approved laboratory processing, a same-day report and a free doctor review.

High-sensitivity CRP is AED 249 (AED 298 all-in), and ESR is AED 99. Booking a CRP alongside a blood count comes to AED 398 with no collection charge, since the total passes 299.

Get a price confirmation now

Same day for the standard CRP. The report is sent via WhatsApp or email, followed by a doctor review.

Note that high-sensitivity CRP takes two to three days, which is one of several reasons it is the wrong choice if you are feeling unwell right now. Collection is available across Dubai 24/7, including evenings and weekends.

No. There is no fasting and no timing window — eat and drink normally and book whichever slot suits you.

The one thing worth doing is telling us what medication you take, because anti-inflammatory drugs can lower CRP. If a doctor has ordered other tests alongside it, such as glucose or a lipid profile, those may require fasting — mention them when you book.

We deliberately do not print a figure here, and it is worth understanding why. Laboratories use different analysers and slightly different reference intervals, so the only range that applies to you is the one printed alongside your own result.

More importantly, most of the CRP numbers quoted online belong to a different test. The categories you will find on many pages are hs-CRP cardiovascular risk bands, which sit far below anything an infection produces. Comparing an infection result to those is how people frighten themselves badly over a perfectly ordinary finding.

It means there is active inflammation somewhere in your body. It does not say where, and it does not say what is causing it — a chest infection, an inflamed joint, a healing surgical wound and a gut condition can all raise it.

Nor does the figure scale neatly with how serious the cause is. A very treatable infection can push it high, and a significant condition can produce only a modest rise. What resolves it is context: your symptoms, your medication, and often a repeat test to see which direction it is moving.

Ask about your result

They measure the same protein but answer completely different questions, and this is the most common mistake made when booking.

Standard CRP is for infection and active inflammation — fever, a flare, recovery after surgery. AED 199, results the same day. hs-CRP is a more sensitive version that reads much lower levels accurately, used for cardiovascular risk assessment. AED 249, results in two to three days.

Two practical consequences: hs-CRP is no use for a fever today, and it is meaningless during an active infection, which swamps the low-level signal it is looking for. Tell us your reason when you call and we will book the right one.

Both measure inflammation, but at very different speeds. CRP rises within hours and falls quickly once inflammation settles. ESR lags days behind in both directions.

That makes CRP the better choice for anything acute, and much better for checking whether treatment is working. ESR is still preferred in certain rheumatological conditions, where clinical practice has been built around it for decades, and it is often ordered alongside CRP rather than instead of it. If you are being monitored by a specialist, ask which one they track.

Yes, and it matters. Anti-inflammatory drugs do exactly what their name suggests — ibuprofen and similar painkillers, steroids, and statins can all lower CRP. A reassuring number is less reassuring if you have been taking them.

Never stop prescribed medication to get a "truer" result. Tell us what you take when you book, and the doctor will read your figure knowing it. That is a far safer approach than adjusting your own treatment.

Quite a lot, which is why a modestly raised result in someone who feels well is often nothing to chase.

Carrying extra weight, smoking, pregnancy, a recent hard workout and oestrogen-containing medication can all lift the baseline. So can a minor injury, a dental problem, or a virus you have half got over. None of these are reasons to ignore a result — they are reasons to read it alongside your circumstances rather than on its own.

Often, yes — and CRP is one of the few tests where that is genuinely good practice rather than an upsell. Because it falls quickly once inflammation resolves, two results a few days apart tell you far more than one ever can.

A number coming down is real evidence that something is settling. One that is climbing when it should be falling is worth a doctor's attention, whatever the absolute figure. Our doctor will tell you honestly whether repeating is worth it in your case.

A doctor review is part of the price and no referral is required. A CRP figure on its own is close to meaningless — the doctor reads it against the correct reference range, your symptoms and your medication, and tells you plainly what it suggests and whether anything further is worth doing.
