What is an STD Test?
Sexually transmitted diseases and infections often carry no visible symptoms, meaning millions of people are unknowingly living with an STD and unknowingly passing it on. An STD test in Dubai is the only clinically reliable way to know your status with certainty, and to protect both yourself and your partners.
Markers
Individual or Full Panel
Test for one specific infection or choose MedCall's comprehensive STD panel, covering every major sexually transmitted infection in a single visit.
An STD test is a clinical examination of your blood, urine, or a swab sample to detect the presence of sexually transmitted infections, many of which have no symptoms at all in their early and most transmissible stages.
Different STDs require different sample types. Blood tests are used to detect HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Syphilis, infections that enter the bloodstream and generate antibodies or antigens measurable in a standard venous sample. Swab or urine tests are used for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, which reside in the urogenital tract. Herpes (HSV-1 and HSV-2) can be detected through either a blood antibody test or a swab taken from an active sore. A comprehensive STD panel at MedCall covers all of these in a single appointment, with no repeat visits required.
In Dubai and across the UAE, regular sexual health screening is strongly recommended, particularly for those with new or multiple partners, anyone recently returning from travel, individuals who have had unprotected intercourse, or anyone experiencing symptoms such as unusual discharge, sores, pelvic pain, or burning during urination. Many STDs, including Chlamydia and early-stage HIV, produce no detectable symptoms for months or years, silent infections that continue to cause internal damage and transmission throughout that time.
Early detection is clinically transformative. HIV detected early responds to antiretroviral therapy and can be managed to undetectable levels. Syphilis, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhoea are fully curable with antibiotics when caught early. Hepatitis B and C have highly effective antiviral treatments. A confidential STD test at home in Dubai removes every logistical and psychological barrier between you and the clarity you deserve.

Common Symptoms of STDs
Sexually transmitted infections often show no symptoms at all, which is why regular testing matters even when you feel healthy. When symptoms do appear, they commonly include the following.
Symptoms can be mild or absent entirely. If you have had a recent exposure risk, testing is the only way to know for sure.
Unusual Discharge
Changes in colour, texture or smell of genital discharge — often an early sign of bacterial or viral infection.
Pain or Burning
Discomfort during urination, intercourse, or persistent pelvic or lower abdominal pain that does not resolve on its own.
Itching or Redness
Persistent itching, swelling or redness around the genital, anal or pelvic area that is unexplained by other causes.
Sores or Bumps
Unusual sores, bumps, blisters or rashes appearing near the genitals, mouth or anus — a hallmark symptom of Herpes and Syphilis.
Fever & Fatigue
Unexplained fever, persistent tiredness, body aches or swollen lymph nodes lasting more than a few days after exposure.
Irregular Bleeding
Bleeding between periods or after intercourse that is not related to a menstrual cycle, which can indicate certain STIs.

Who Should Get Tested?
Regular STD screening is a normal part of taking care of your health. If any of the following apply to you, getting tested is a responsible and informed choice.
No judgment, just care. If you've ever had sexual contact, routine testing is recommended by health authorities worldwide — whether you feel fine or not.
New or Multiple Partners
Starting a new relationship or having multiple partners is a standard trigger for baseline and periodic screening.
Before a New Relationship
Many couples choose to test together before becoming intimate. It’s a straightforward way to start with peace of mind.
Unprotected Contact
If protection failed or wasn’t used, testing 2–4 weeks after potential exposure gives accurate results.
Symptoms You’ve Noticed
Any unusual discharge, pain, itching, sores or general discomfort warrants a proper test to identify the cause.
Annual Health Screening
Sexually active adults should screen annually as part of routine preventive care, even without symptoms.
Planning Pregnancy
Pre-pregnancy screening protects both partners and the baby. Recommended for anyone trying to conceive.
Partner Tested Positive
If a current or previous partner has been diagnosed, prompt testing is essential — even without symptoms.
Haven’t Tested in a While
If it’s been over a year since your last test, or you’ve never tested, a baseline screening is always a good idea.
Simply for Peace of Mind
You don’t need a specific reason. Many people test simply because being informed about their health matters to them.
100% Confidential & Discreet
We understand how personal STD testing is. Every element of our service is designed to protect your privacy — from the moment you call us to the moment you receive your results.

A DHA Nurse Comes to You
No clinic, no reception desk, no explanations owed to anyone. A licensed nurse arrives at your home, hotel or office at a time that suits you, collects your sample discreetly in minutes, and it is on its way to the lab the same day — all completely private.
The whole visit is quick, discreet and judgement-free — and your result is shared with you and nobody else.
A DHA-licensed nurse brings everything needed and collects your sample with a sterile, single-use kit. Depending on which infections are checked, this may be a small blood sample, a urine sample or a swab — sometimes a combination. Most visits take around ten minutes from knock to done, and you never have to leave home or explain yourself to anyone.
The timing is straightforward. Your sample reaches a DHA-approved laboratory the same day, and the standard markers — such as HIV, syphilis and common STIs — are typically reported quickly. A few confirmatory or PCR tests naturally take a little longer, and we tell you the timing upfront so there are no surprises.
The one thing we never rush is what the result means. Your result is completely confidential and read by a doctor — a reactive marker is confirmed rather than assumed, and if anything needs attention a discreet doctor talks you through it privately. Never a bare figure on a screen, and never shared with anyone but you.

What Your STD Result Means
Your report shows each infection as reactive or non-reactive. That is the easy part. The part that matters — what a reactive result actually means for you, and what comes next — is where the confidential doctor review comes in.
Context
A Private Result, Explained
Each infection comes back reactive or non-reactive — and with a doctor's discreet read on what it means for you, in complete confidence.
Each infection is reported as reactive or non-reactive by the laboratory.
The label tells you whether an infection was detected — but not, on its own, the whole story. A reactive result needs confirming before anything is concluded, and a non-reactive result can still sit inside a window period after a very recent exposure. That is why the label is a starting point, read in context, not a verdict.
This is exactly why we do not just email you a lab sheet. Our doctor reads your result privately and discreetly — explaining reactive against non-reactive, arranging any confirmatory test, advising whether a recent exposure means repeating after the window period, and telling you plainly and kindly what to do next. Your result stays between you and the doctor.
An STD result is read in context, not as a bare label. A reactive marker is a signal to confirm, not a final diagnosis, and a non-reactive result taken inside the window period after a recent exposure may need a repeat. The meaning, and the sensible next step, come from a doctor reading it with you discreetly — included, at no extra cost, and shared with you and nobody else.
Discreet, Professional, and Judgement-Free — What Patients Say
Thousands of patients across Dubai have used MedCall for confidential home lab testing. Here is what they say about the experience.
A note on privacy. Reviews below are shown with initials only and describe the home lab testing experience, never a specific test or result. We never identify a patient with the test they booked — not on this page, not anywhere.
"I had been putting this off for months because I did not want to sit in a waiting room. Messaged on WhatsApp, someone came to my apartment the next evening, and it was over in ten minutes. No forms, no questions I did not want to answer. I wish I had done it sooner."
"What stood out was how normal they made it feel. No raised eyebrows, no lecture, just a professional doing their job properly. The coordinator explained everything clearly on the phone before anyone arrived, so there were no surprises."
"Booked while travelling and staying at a hotel. They came to the room, were completely discreet about it, and my results came through privately. For anyone visiting Dubai who needs testing done quietly, this is the way."
"The part I appreciated most was the follow-up. Someone actually walked me through what each line on the report meant instead of just emailing a PDF and leaving me to panic-Google it at midnight."
"Evening appointment so I did not have to explain a mid-day absence to anyone at work. Arrived on time, sterile equipment straight out of the packet, done and gone. Exactly what was promised on the phone."
"Honestly I was nervous about the whole thing. The coordinator was calm and matter-of-fact about it, which was exactly what I needed. Treated me like an adult making a sensible decision, not like I had done something wrong."

STD Test At Home Dubai — Your Questions, Answered Directly
Every question patients ask before booking — answered completely. Including the ones about privacy, window periods, what happens if a result is positive, and whether a home test is as accurate as a clinic.
Not finding your question? Call +971 55 850 2472 — free, no obligationAED [[STD_PRICE]] for the full panel. That price includes your DHA-licensed nurse visit, every sample collection consumable, laboratory processing, and a private digital report. The home, hotel, or office visit anywhere in Dubai is free. No hidden fees, no setup charges, no contract. The price you are quoted before the nurse is dispatched is the price you pay.
Get a full pricing breakdownThe panel covers [[PANEL_LIST]] — typically HIV 1 & 2 (fourth-generation antigen and antibody), Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Chlamydia trachomatis, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Additional markers such as Herpes Simplex 1 and 2 IgG, Trichomonas, and Mycoplasma genitalium can be added on request. Your coordinator confirms the exact marker list before you book, so you know precisely what is and is not being tested.
A DHA-licensed nurse arrives with a sealed collection kit. Blood-based markers (HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C, Herpes IgG) need one standard venous blood draw that takes under five minutes. Bacterial markers (Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea) are collected by a first-catch urine sample or a self-collected swab, which you provide privately in your own bathroom.
The nurse never performs an intimate examination. The full visit takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes from door to door.
Ask how the visit worksResults are typically available within [[TURNAROUND]] of the sample reaching the laboratory. Samples are moved in a temperature-controlled cold chain immediately after collection, so nothing degrades in transit. Your report arrives as a private, password-accessible digital file, sent to you and only you.
If any marker is reactive, a clinician calls you before the report is released — you are never left alone with an abnormal result and no explanation.
Your test is handled as confidential medical information. The nurse arrives in an unmarked vehicle with no clinical branding, carries a plain sealed kit, and no reason for the visit is disclosed to anyone — not to building security, not to reception, not to anyone in your home. Results are released to you alone. Records are handled under UAE health data protection requirements and Dubai Health Authority standards.
To be straight with you: certain notifiable infections carry statutory reporting duties under UAE law that apply to every licensed laboratory in the country, not just to us. Your coordinator explains exactly what those obligations are before you book, so you know the position in advance and decide with full information.
Ask about privacy before you bookNo fasting is required. The only preparation that matters applies to the urine sample: do not urinate for at least one hour — ideally two — before the nurse arrives. A first-catch urine sample needs concentrated material flushed from the urethra to be accurate, and an empty bladder is the most common reason a bacterial test has to be repeated.
Avoid antibacterial or antiseptic washes in the 24 hours beforehand. And tell your coordinator if you are currently on antibiotics — recent antibiotic use can suppress a bacterial result and produce a false negative.
Every infection has a window period — the time it takes to become detectable. Testing too early is the single most common cause of a false negative. As a general guide: Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea from around 14 days. HIV (4th-generation Ag/Ab) from around 18 to 45 days, highly reliable at 45 days, conclusive at 90. Syphilis from 3 to 6 weeks, conclusive at 12 weeks. Hepatitis B and C from 6 to 12 weeks. Herpes IgG can take 12 to 16 weeks.
If you are still inside a window period, a clinician will advise the correct retest date rather than take your money for a test that cannot yet give you an answer. If you have had a high-risk exposure within the last 72 hours, HIV post-exposure prophylaxis is time-critical — seek urgent medical care now rather than waiting for a test.
Ask when you should testA reactive result is never sent to you by message without support. A clinician contacts you first, explains what the result means, and separates a screening result requiring confirmatory testing from a confirmed diagnosis — these are not the same thing, and the difference matters enormously.
Most bacterial infections, including Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, are cleared with a short antibiotic course. Viral infections are managed through ongoing care pathways. You are referred to the appropriate licensed treatment service in Dubai and supported through the next step. A positive screening result is the start of treatment, not a verdict.
The accuracy is identical, because the test is identical. This is not a rapid self-test kit off a shelf. The nurse collects the same sample a clinic phlebotomist would collect, using the same sealed consumables, and it is processed on the same analysers at [[LAB_NAME]], a DHA-licensed laboratory (licence number [[DHA_LICENCE]]).
The only difference between a home test and a clinic test is where the needle goes in. Sensitivity and specificity are unchanged — provided you have tested outside the window period.
Ask about our lab accreditationYes. Most Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea infections produce no symptoms at all, particularly in women. HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C can stay silent for years while remaining transmissible and while quietly causing progressive internal damage.
Waiting for symptoms is the reason most infections are found late. Screening after a new partner, after unprotected sex, before starting a new relationship, or simply as part of an annual health check is standard preventive practice — nothing more.
Book a routine screenSame-day appointments are available across all Dubai areas, subject to nurse availability. Most patients are booked and confirmed within 10 minutes of calling or messaging. Call or WhatsApp our coordinator on +971 55 850 2472 — we confirm availability and arrange a nurse visit typically within a few hours. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Early-morning and late-evening slots are open if you would rather the visit happened outside working hours.
Some UAE insurance plans cover diagnostic laboratory testing, and coverage varies significantly by insurer and plan level — enhanced corporate and personal plans, and international policies, are the most likely to include it.
One thing worth knowing before you decide: claiming through insurance means the test appears on your claims record. Many patients choose to pay privately specifically to keep it off their insurance history. Call us with your policy details and our coordinator will explain both options at no charge, with no pressure either way.
